Celebrated American Photographer
Abbott studied initially at Ohio State University then later in Paris and Berlin.
She was strongly influenced by the works of Man Ray and Eugène Atget and perhaps is best remembered for her series of documentary photographs (1935-1939) illustrating the changing faces, (people and architecture), of New York.
