A Japanese painter and print maker
Hiroshige was born in Tokyo (then named Edo) and was apprenticed to Utagawa Toyohiro graduating in 1812.
Initially he concentrated on creating prints of traditional subjects such as young women and actors but after this 1830 he concentrated on landscapes for which he subsequently became renowned.
Throughout his career was very prolific producing an abundance of paintings
